Doing something a little bit different this week by sharing this week's video at the beginning of the week, and I've got a cool one to share today! This is a behind-the-scenes CNN news report on the What A Cartoon! show from 1995. Included are some great interviews with Joe Barbera, Bill Hanna, Craig McCracken (creator of The Powerpuff Girls), and Van Partible (creator of Johnny Bravo). The segment also shows some interesting footage of the studio at that time, and a look at the state of animation as a whole in the nineties. Give it a look below!
That's the late Barrington Bunce working on the Dino storyboard ("The Great Egg-Scape"), and ...good gosh, you don't know who Mark Kausler is (Wearing the Screwy Squirrel tee, and likely working on one of the Pat Ventura shorts)? For shame, Doc!
ReplyDeleteWas very surprised to see that cels were utilized for these shorts---H-B started using the CAPS inking & painting program back in the early Eighties, several years before Disney.
Don't worry, I'm more than familiar with Mark. To be honest though, I completely overlooked him when typing this one out! A big mistake on my part if I do say so myself!
