Video of the Week: Carlo Vinci at the Animation Guild Award Banquet

When people think of the classic animators who worked at Hanna-Barbera during its early years, Carlo Vinci is almost always one of the first to come to mind. Among the first set of animators to join the company, Vinci had an extensive career in animation, and that's even before discussing his time at Hanna-Barbera. From training Joe Barbera during his time at Van Buren to a nearly ten-year run at MGM, Vinci had a career many animators could only dream of. His animation had a great franticness to it, always full of life and never boring. Vinci was able to take scenes that could have easily been static and flat, and inject them with some much-needed zaniness. That's a pretty good skill if you ask me!

That brings me to today's "Video of the Week" segment. From the 1982 Animation Guild Golden Awards Banquet, animation professor Harvey Deneroff has a short chat with Vinci, who reflects on his time in the animation industry. It's a very short video, but it's still great to see him discuss his career with enthusiasm. Eagle-eyed viewers may also spot Looney Tunes legend Bob Clampett at one point in this video, too!
